I'd like to start of the discussions on what we would like to see by saying that I wouldn't mind someone running a short course each month on one bit of electronics kit, e.g. a transistor telling us how they work, a small example project for which...

SHACKNET 4 - The Social, Happy Christmas

SHACKNET 4

Hi All,

Thanks to all of you that came to Shacknet 3.5. We had a great night at Access Space. John Mosely showed off some inspired drum synth and music machinery built around Arduino and an old CD cake box.

John Crouchley ventured north from Nottingham to show off some great bits of kit in the form of tiny Arduino, no bigger than your thumb controlling two 8x32 LED displays. (Thanks to John also for helping me get my LCD working)

As usual there was lots of conversation around all things electronic, although since @richardathome was not around there was less talk on fire breathing monster robots of doom than normal.

We had a brief chat about what YOU would all like to see and do at the Shacknet meetings. If you have any ideas or would like to volunteer to run something then please post in the forums section under Meetings or alternatively get in contact with Jim Methley, Richard Rixham, Marc Johnson or Mike Smith.

Next months meeting, 17th December, will be more of a social event than normal with it being so close to Christmas so we're heading to a hostilry for this meeting. We have yet to confirm a venue for the meeting but we'll post it as soon as we have one. We hope to have this arranged by the Sheffield GeekUp on the 2nd December.

If anyone has any Christmas projects that they would like to share with the group then please do bring them along. If it's something that we could all have a go at making then PLEASE post detail on this site a few days in advance of the meeting which will give anyone who wants to make one too the chance to purchase the required items and come along and build it on a breadboard.

So, don't forget, it's the 17th Decmeber for the next meeting and we'll post the venue as soon as we have one arranged. If you have any suggestions for a venue in the next few days, please send us a message.

Cheers,
Richard
